SMTP Server Test Failed: The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format

Problem

When you try to test the Scan to Email Configuration, you get an error message that is similar to the following:

SMTP Server Test Failed: The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format

Solution

  1. Verify the Authentication Method and/or Security Mode match to the intended SMTP Server.
