DocRecord Document Server Requirements
The requirements for an installation of the DocRecord Document Server component will vary based on a number of factors, including the number of concurrent users utilizing DocRecord in your organization. Please see the table below to determine the server requirements for your organization, but keep in mind that this is only meant to serve as a guide based on typical volume and throughput of documents.
Number of Concurrent Users | Hardware Requirements | Microsoft SQL Server Edition | Separate Database Server Recommended? |
---|---|---|---|
1 to 49 | 2 CPUs 8 GB RAM | Express | No |
50 to 99 | 4 CPUs 12 GB RAM | Standard | No |
100 to 249 | 6 CPUs 16 GB RAM | Standard | Yes |
250 to 499 | 8 CPUs 24 GB RAM | Standard | Yes |
500 to 999 | 16 CPUs 32 GB RAM | Standard | Yes |
1,000+ | 32 CPUs 64 GB RAM | Enterprise | Yes |
In addition, a DocRecord Document Server installation requires the following:
- Each processor must be 2 GHz or faster
- 1.5 GB of free hard disk space for installation files (additional hard disk space required for user data).
Other Server Components Requirements
The other server components of DocRecord (such as the Capture Server) require at least 1 dedicated hardware server with the configuration listed below:
2 CPUs or greater
8 GB of system RAM or greater
1.5 GB of free hard disk space for installation files (additional hard disk space required for storage of actual documents and data)
Additional Software Requirements
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, or 2016 (Express Edition or Higher)
Please note the following regarding Microsoft SQL Server:
- Used for DocRecord database - purchased, installed, and maintained by customer.
- If you are using the SQL Server Express Edition, please note that there are various limitations including a database size limit and the inability to scale up in terms of performance. For this reason, the Standard Edition or higher is recommended for use with DocRecord.
In addition, when the database size limit of the Express Edition is eventually reached and an upgrade to a full edition of SQL Server is required, the customer shall be solely responsible for performing this upgrade. If the customer would like Prism to assist with this SQL Server upgrade process, Prism professional services must be purchased as billable hours. - If you are licensing under the Server/CAL model then at least 1 CAL license is required for each DocRecord concurrent user.
