Problem

When you try to save a document to an OCRable format (such as Searchable PDF) using ScanPath Desktop, you get an error message that is similar to the following:

Could not load file or assembly 'idrsnet15, Version=15.0.5929.29819, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f8dc14aa4b79bbfa' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Solution

In older Windows operating systems (such as Windows Server 2008 R2), the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package may not come pre-installed with the system and is required in order to utilize the OCR engine in ScanPath Desktop.  Please follow the steps below to obtain the appropriate runtime package for your system.

  1. Close the ScanPath Desktop application (if it is open).

  2. Download and install the appropriate Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package based on whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows:
    1. 32-bit: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
    2. 64-bit: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

  3. Open the ScanPath Desktop application.  You should now be able to convert the document to an OCRable format of choice.

Applies To
