  1. Installation Directory – Note down the folder path in Windows where ScanPath is currently installed to as you will need to select this same directory during the upgrade process.

  2. ScanPath Server Service Service Account – In the Windows Services list, locate the ScanPathSvc servicethe ScanPathSvc service.  Right click on it, go to Properties, and then the "Log On" tab.  Make note of the Log On properties (including any specific user account and password information) as you will need to reconfigure this information after the upgrade.

  3. Installed ScanPath Components – In the Programs and Features list in Windows, please note down all ScanPath components that are currently installed. You will need to install these components during the upgrade process.

  1. If you have custom workflow processes for ScanPath, you will need to export each process first.  To export:

    1. Browse to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Prism Software\ScanPath\Server" (default) and run the Administrator.exe file.
    2. Connect to the ScanPath Server by going to File > Connect.
    3. For each custom process, select the process in the Processes Pane then go to File > Export.
       
  2. Uninstall all applicable ScanPath components from the Programs and Features list of Windows:

    1. ScanPath
    2. ScanPath WebLinker
    3. ScanPath WebLinker Service
    4. ScanPath ScanToBarcode

  3. If applicable, right click on the properties of the downloaded ZIP file and unblock it, and then click "OK".

  4. Extract the entire ZIP file to a local folder and install each of the ScanPath components that were removed earlier in Step 2, following the instructions in the included installation guide.  Please be sure to provide the information you noted during the Upgrade Preparations section where appropriate.

  5. If applicable, import the custom processes from Step 1 using the ScanPath Administrator application.

  6. Open the ScanPath Configuration Tool and go through each of the configuration settings.  Please note that the menu options have changed since the previous version and may require some reconfiguration.

  7. Please go into the Windows Services list and change the ScanPathSvc service properties to use the same "Log On" tab settings noted during the Upgrade Preparations section.

    Note: You will need to restart these services this service in order for the log on changes to take effect.
