Backup and Restore ScanPath

This article walks you through the process of backing up and restoring your ScanPath Server configuration to a matching version of ScanPath Server.  Once this process is complete, you may upgrade ScanPath Server to a newer version (if applicable) by following the steps in the Upgrading ScanPath article.

Old Server Environment

  1. Stop the "ScanPathSvc" service in the Windows Services list.

  2. Browse to the ScanPath Server installation directory ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Prism Software\ScanPath\Server" by default) and make a copy of all the files ending with any of the following file extensions:

    1. ".DAT"
    2. ".SQLITE"
    3. ".VDB3"

New Server Environment

  1. Perform a clean installation of ScanPath (this must be the same version number as the current installation of ScanPath Server).

  2. Stop the "ScanPathSvc" service in the Windows Services list.

  3. Browse to the ScanPath Server installation directory ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Prism Software\ScanPath\Server" by default).  Place all the files copied from the old server environment (see Step 2 in the Old Server Environment section) into the directory, overwriting any existing files.

  4. Start the "ScanPathSvc" service in the Windows Services list.

  5. At this point, your ScanPath Server configuration should be restored from the old server environment.

You will have to update the ScanPath Connector to point to ScanPath running on the new server environment. This may involve removing and adding the ScanPath Connector on each MFP device. Please see the ScanPath Connector documentation for more details.
