Hardware Platform Requirements

The requirements for an installation of the PrintPath Server component will vary based on a number of factors, including the number of printers and print volume in your organization.  Please see the table below to determine the server requirements for your organization, but keep in mind that this is only meant to serve as a guide based on typical usage.

In addition, a PrintPath Server installation requires at least 750 MB of free hard disk space for installation files (additional hard disk space required for user data).

A domain controller server may NOT be used as the hardware server for the PrintPath Server. Also, in environments with heavy printing or multiple locations, it is recommended that the PrintPath Server be loaded on a separate hardware server than the existing print servers.

Additional Software Requirements

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, or 2014 (Express Edition and Higher) 

Please note the following regarding Microsoft SQL Server:


  • If you are using the SQL Server Express Edition, please note that there are various limitations including a database size limit and the inability to scale up in terms of performance.  For this reason, the Standard Edition or higher is recommended for use with PrintPath in larger environments.

  • In addition, when the database size limit of the Express Edition is eventually reached and an upgrade to a full edition of SQL Server is required, the customer shall be solely responsible for performing this upgrade.  If the customer would like Prism to assist with this SQL Server upgrade process, Prism professional services must be purchased as billable hours.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2
  • Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services) with FTP Service - Only needed if using scanning related features in FollowPrint Connector
  • Windows Firewall disabled or port exceptions created for the following: 515, 1616, 5570, 5571, 9119, 9876, 24400, 24500, 24600, 26501, and 50003

  • 2 GB of system RAM or greater

  • 200 MB of free hard disk space for installation files (additional hard disk space required for user data)

 

A domain controller server may NOT be used as the hardware server for PrintPath Printer Monitor Service.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Client Profile)
  • Windows Firewall disabled or port exceptions created for the following: 515, 5571
